SmartWot ("the app", "we") is a collection of 45 offline utilities published by SmartWot. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your information.
It is written to describe the app's real behaviour rather than to cover every theoretical case, so it is specific about which tool does what. Where something is outside our control — your phone's speech recogniser, or an advertising network — we say so plainly instead of implying a guarantee we cannot make.
The short version
- SmartWot has no accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no profile to create.
- We count devices, not people. The app reports a random install id, the platform, the app version and a country so we can see how many devices have it and how many use it each day. Nothing about you, and nothing you create.
- We do not collect, transmit or store your personal data. Your files, photos, notes, expenses and step counts stay on your device.
- We never sell or share personal information with anyone, for any purpose.
- Advertising is provided by Google AdMob, which does collect data — the Advertising section below explains what, and how to limit it.
- A few tools read public data from the internet (news headlines, exchange rates, metal prices, cricket scores). Those requests reveal your IP address to the provider, as any internet request does.
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored.
1. Information we collect
We do not collect anything you create. SmartWot has no user accounts and no crash reporter. We cannot see your files, your notes, your expenses, or which tools you type into.
We do count how many devices have the app and how many use it each day. To do that, the app sends the following to a server we run:

That is the entire list. In particular there is no advertising id, no Android ID, no IMEI, no phone number, no email, no location beyond the country your phone is set to, and nothing about which tools you use.
About the campaign tag. When we run a promotion we sometimes share a link that carries a
short label, like ravi-tech. If you installed SmartWot after following one of those links,
Google Play passes that label to the app once, and the app reports it so we can tell which promotion
worked. The label describes the link, not you: it is the same for everyone who used it, it says
nothing about who you are, and it is sent only with that first install report. If you found SmartWot any
other way — a store search, a friend's recommendation — nothing is sent, because there is no label to send.
The install id is a random number generated on your phone. It is not derived from your hardware and cannot be traced back to you or matched with any other app. Clearing SmartWot's app data erases it, and the next launch simply generates a new one.
Turning it off. Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage. Switch it off and the app stops sending immediately; nothing further is transmitted.
Our advertising provider collects its own data, described in section 5.
2. Information stored on your device
Some tools save data locally so they still work when you reopen them. This data never leaves your device and is not readable by us or anyone else.

Files you create — PDFs, edited photos, extracted audio, exported notes — are written to the app's own Documents/SmartWot folder and are yours to move, share or delete.
3. Device permissions
SmartWot asks for a permission only when a tool needs it, and only at the moment you use that tool. Declining a permission disables that one tool; the rest keep working.
Camera
Used by: QR Scanner, Doc Scanner, Text Scanner, Photo Studio, Color Studio.
Frames are processed on your device to read a code or recognise text. Nothing is recorded or uploaded. Scanning happens in memory; only an image you explicitly save is written to storage.
Microphone
Used by: Voice Notes.
Audio is captured only while you are actively dictating and is passed straight to your device's speech recogniser. SmartWot never records audio to a file and never transmits it.
Speech recognition
Used by: Voice Notes.
This is your operating system's recogniser, not ours. On Android, speech recognition may be processed on Google's servers unless you have an offline language pack installed; on iOS it may be processed by Apple. This is the platform's behaviour and applies to every app that offers dictation. The tool provides an "On-device recognition only" switch if you would rather your voice never leave the handset — note that it fails on devices without an offline language pack, which is why it is not the default.
Photos and media
Used by: Image Compressor, Image to PDF, Photo Studio, Color Studio, Background Remover, Video to MP3, Hash & Base64.
Only files you pick are opened. The app has no ability to browse your library on its own and never uploads what you select.
Physical activity
Used by: Step Counter.
Reads the step count from your phone's hardware pedometer. This is a number, not a location — no location data is accessed, and the count stays on your device.
Local network
Used by: WiFi Helper.
Checks which addresses on your own network respond, so it can find your router's admin page. It scans only private home-network ranges, never the public internet, and reports nothing anywhere.
Storage
Used to save the files you create into the app's Documents/SmartWot folder, and to read files you choose to open.
4. Internet use
Most tools are entirely offline. These use the network:

These are read-only requests for public information. We send no account details, no device identifiers and nothing about you. As with any internet request, the provider can see your IP address and the time of the request; their own privacy policies govern what they do with that. SmartWot has no agreement with them and receives nothing back about you.
5. Advertising
SmartWot is free and is funded by ads served through Google AdMob.
To serve ads, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, or the iOS Identifier for Advertisers);
- device and network information such as model, operating system version, language, coarse location inferred from IP address, and IP address itself;
- ad interaction events such as impressions and clicks.
This is Google's collection, under Google's policies, not ours. We receive only aggregate earnings figures — never anything that identifies you.

Your controls
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID, or Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. SmartWot will ask before tracking; declining means you still see ads, just less relevant ones.
- Remove ads entirely: the Settings screen offers an ad-free option.
Opting out never disables any tool. Every one of the 45 tools works the same with ads off.
6. Children
SmartWot is a general-purpose utility app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live). We do not knowingly collect anything from children. Because the only thing we collect is a random install id with nothing attached to it, there is no children's data for us to hold or delete. If you believe a child has been served inappropriate advertising, use the advertising controls above or contact us.
7. Data we never handle
To be explicit, SmartWot does not collect, request, store or transmit:
- names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses;
- passwords or login credentials for any service;
- precise or background location;
- contacts, call logs, SMS or calendar entries;
- health or biometric data beyond the step count described above, which stays on your device;
- payment card or bank details.
The Expense Planner records amounts and categories you type in. That data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted.
The Test Data generator deliberately produces unusable values — example.com addresses,
555-01xx numbers, 192.0.2.x IP addresses — so generated fixtures cannot reach
a real person.
8. Security
Data stored by SmartWot is protected by your device's own security: the app sandbox, and full-disk encryption where your device provides it. Because the only thing transmitted to us is the anonymous count described in section 1, there is no server-side breach that could expose your SmartWot data. Network requests to the public services in section 4 use HTTPS.
Anyone with unlocked physical access to your device can open the app and see what is in it, as with any app. Use a device passcode.
9. Your rights
Privacy laws including the GDPR (Europe), CCPA/CPRA (California) and the DPDP Act (India) give you rights over personal data a company holds about you — access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection to sale or sharing.
SmartWot holds no data that identifies you. The install id described in section 1 is a random number with nothing attached to it — no name, account, email or device identifier — so we cannot look you up, and there is nothing personal for us to retrieve, correct or delete on request. You can stop the reporting at any time in Settings → Privacy, and clearing the app's data discards the id. You control everything else the app stores directly on your device, and uninstalling removes all of it.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we never have.
For data collected by Google AdMob, exercise your rights through the Google controls linked in section 5.
10. Changes
If this policy changes materially, the version in the app will be updated and the date at the top revised. Because the policy ships inside the app, an app update is what delivers a revision — you can always read the version that applies to the build you are running from Settings → Privacy policy.
